CÉAD MÍLE FÁILTE

Welcome to the website of Scoil Mhuire na nGael, Bay Estate, Dundalk. Browse through our website and you will see the wide range of educational, fun and extra-curricular activities we engage in, throughout the school year.

 

OUR STAFF

Scoil Mhuire na nGael is a co-educational primary school. We have 61 staff in the school. Our School Principal Lisa Jones assisted by Deputy Principal Síofra Grant lead a team of 25 classroom teachers, 3 Special Class Teachers, 11 teachers on our SET team and 15 SNAs (Special Needs Assistants). Our 2 secretaries, Elaine and Sharon, are always busy in the school office and our caretaker, Tony and our cleaning staff Blessing & Ann ensure our school is a clean and attractive place for our pupils, staff and visitors.

 

OUR SCHOOL

We are very proud of our school.  Together with 31 state of the art classrooms we have 2 P.E. halls, a sensory room and modern & attractive school library. We have two playgrounds one for our senior pupils and one for our junior pupils. We have a playing field, a garden and an outdoor classroom.

 

SCHOOL HOURS

Our school gates open at 8.40am, all pupils go directly to their classroom.  Parents of Junior and Senior Infants only permitted to drop their children off at the classroom door.

Classes commence for all pupils at 8.50am. Our junior and senior infants go home at 1.30pm and our 1st - 6th classes go home at 2.30pm.

The Board of Management does not accept responsibility for pupils who are on the school premises outside of these times unless they are attending after school activities with our school staff.

 

ENROLMENT

If interested in joining our school please complete an "Transfer Request" form, available from the school office or to download from our website.

 

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Our staff members give freely of their time to provide opportunities for the children to partake in a range of activities - Gaelic Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hurling, Camogie, Quizzes, Art & Project Competitions, Choir, Athletics, Carol - singing and much more.

 

We are lucky to have access to external personnel  who provide coaching in G.A.A., soccer & rugby during P.E. classes. 

We also have a number of fee paying classes conducted after school by specialist staff also. These include Irish Dancing, Fit Kids, Homework Club and Creative Keyboards.

 

IN SCHOOL EVENTS

From time to time we invite artists, performers and theatre groups to visit our school to perform for our pupils. Learning in a fun and enjoyable way appeals to the children and makes for many happy occasions here at school. We have had visits from visiting theatre groups, mobile farms, illustrators, authors, poets, storytellers, musicians, educational roadshows and TV crews.
